A check valve is a device that allows the flow of water in the water supply system, used to prevent the reverse movement of water. It protects the water supply from a drop in water pressure, leakage or pump stoppage.

The water check valve is a cylinder with a spring inside and a round overlapping plate. The valve is initially closed by a spring inside. But under the action of the flow of water, the spring weakens, and the valve opens, letting the flow through itself. If the flow is weakened due to leakage, pump stoppage, or other reasons and the spring forces the shut-off plate to slam shut. If the water, without feeling pressure, goes back, the valve does not give it such an opportunity.
